Effective December 1, 2013
Train employees on the new label elements and SDS format for the new changes made to the Hazard Communication Standard which brings into alignment the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. Please note that this rule requires pictograms on labels as of June 1, 2015 to alert users of the chemical hazards to which they may be exposed. Each pictogram consists of a symbol on a white background framed within a red border and represents a distinct hazard(s).

TN Law Updates:
The Tennessee Lawful Employment Act shall take effect January 1, 2012 , and requires employers to obtain lawful resident verification information consistent with federal employer requirements under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. All private employers with 6 to 199 employees must register and utilize E-Verify or request and maintain an identity / employment authorization document from a newly hired employee no later than July 1, 2013. Dentist Malpractice: Failing to Sterilize Equipment The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts upheld the suspension of a dentist who failed to conduct and record weekly spore testing, which is a method of sterilizing dental instruments. Available here

TN Registered Dental Hygienists:
RDHs may only obtain 50% of their total number of required approved continuing education hours from online courses. The total number of hours remains the same (30) during a 2-year cycle.
